Ahead of the all important quarter final match between Nigeria’s U-17 men’s national team and their counterpart from Burkina Faso on Thursday in Algeria, Golden Eaglets striker, Light Eke is optimistic Eaglets will have an Improved team ready to subdue the Junior Stallions for a place in this year’s U-17 FIFA world cup scheduled to hold in a later date.
Light Eke who equalized for Nigeria shortly after halftime break when the Eaglets were trailing South Africa 2-1 on Saturday evening, says his teammates needs to be more clinical with their chances, charging them to avoid complacency so that their aim will not be defeated.
He warned that Burkina Faso is a good side and urged his fellow lads to stay focused, admitting that the last three group games hasn’t really been top notch, noting if they must show what they have, they should be ready to step up to the plate against the Junior Stallions of Burkina Faso on thursday.
“I think our team is a good team, and we are also going to be facing a good side like Burkina Faso. All we have to do is to convert our chances”
“The first three games I observed it was difficult for us to convert our chances compared to how we used to do before. All we have to do against Burkina Faso is to avoid wasting our chances because we are coming up and we are showing what we can really do”
“We haven’t really shown much in our last three matches but against Burkina Faso I think we will do much much better”
Recall that Nigeria defeated Burkina Faso 2-1 in the finals of the WAFU B regional tournament to emerge champions last year. With the agony of that defeat still fresh on the minds of the Burkinababes, the team will be all out against Nigeria, but the young Eke says Eaglets are equal to the task.
