Organized under the auspices of the Federal Ministry of Education, the tournament tagged ” FEDUGAM Keffi 2022/23″ was declared open yesterday following the arrival of the athletes of the various agencies under the Ministry.
At the flagg off ceremony performed by the Minister of State Education, Right Hon. Goodluck Opiah after a match parade by the various teams, the athletes were charged to a fairplay as the competition continues.

According to Apiah, the athletes must imbibe the spirit of friendship notwithstanding which Agency emerges Champions at the end of the competition.

“The game is very important, this is an avenue to foster friendship. It an opportunity for the Federal Ministry of education come together in line with the objectives of the game. Participation is more important than the win.”
Keeping with the primary objectives of the tournament, Director Human Resource Management and Chairman FEDUGAM Steering Committee, Mr. David Gende, encouraged all the Ministry’s agencies to always avail themselves at the Games given the prime place of the annual tournament.

“We urge all the agencies to team up. We are encouraging as many as possible to join. So we hope in the next edition we will have more of them participate which is key to the game.”
Consultant to the Games, Chief Okeyinkan Matthew, called for wider collaborations, adding that Sports globally develop when there are better synergies between private and public entities.

“We are trying to do our best to seek essential support and partnership with different people. The issue of sponship or partisanship is a symbolic relationship. No organization is a father Christmas, you have to enter into partnership. It’s a give a take thing.”
Radio Nigeria (NAN).also caught up with some of the athletes comprising Maria Okoori, Nasiru Wali and Joy Anyanwu who are already in high spirits for victory at the Games.
The three-day competition which ends this Thursday, sees over five hundred sports men and women competing in Football, Scrabble, Ayoo, Draught, Badminton, Basketball, Table Tennis, Volleyball, Handball and Table Tennis.
