In a bid for Nigeria’s Super Eagles to have easy and seamless preparations towards the world cup qualifiers starting in November, President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau has vowed to judiciously utilize all FIFA windows, by engaging the national team with quality friendly matches to hand them a befitting preparations towards the 2026 WCQ.
The NFF President stated this during a press briefing, as he marks his one year in office at the football secretariat, Sunday Dankaro house, on Tuesday morning in Abuja, PAIMEDIA.com.ng reports.

Beginning with this months friendly matches against Saudi Arabia and Mozambique in Portimao Portugal, Gusau said it is important to secure those games for the Super Eagles.
He explained that Playing Mozambique has become imperative for the Super Eagles, knowing that they play similar pattern of football with Nigeria’s 2026 WCQ group opponents in Lesotho, South Africa and Zimbabwe, stating that these games and many others in every FIFA window will improve the confidence of the Super Eagles.

“We have tried to work hard to have this match against Mozambique because in the next one month, we are going to start our world cup qualifiers”
“Mozambique if you look at it comes from the same axis of three countries we are going to compete with them at this world cup qualifiers, that is Lesotho, South Africa and Zimbabwe, they are from the same axis and play the same pattern of football that is why it is important for us to play that friendly match”
“That is why we are going to Portugal to play Saudi Arabia and Mozambique. So all FIFA windows, we are going to make sure we organize quality matches for the Super Eagles, that is the only way we can impact in the confidence of the team”
The Super Eagles of Nigeria have been scheduled to Saudi Arabia in the city of Portimão, Portugal on Friday, 13th October 2023, starting at 5pm before a clash with the Mambas of Mozambique in the same city three days later.

Nigeria will begin her world cup qualifiers with a game against the Crocodiles of Lesotho in Uyo on 17th November before travelling away to play Zimbabwe four days later.
