Kogi / Koton karfe Local Government football team has qualified for the playoff that would decide the final spot in the last four of the ongoing Kogi Unity Football Tournament.
Koton karfe defeated their counterpart in a Western Derby, Lokoja LGA 5-4 on Penalties after a playing a thrilling 4-4 in regulation on Tuesday at the Holy Trinity Field, Lokoja.
Koton Karfe will now play Yagba East for a place in the semifinal that has each regional winner in Ijumu LGA, Ankpa LGA, and Ajaokuta LGA football teams.
The Kogi Unity Cup is being sponsored by Otunba Olayinka Braimoh- a front runner in the 2023 Kogi State gubernatorial election, a philanthropist, and a business tycoon.
The competition is aimed at fostering unity, sportsmanship, and community engagement across the three regions of Kogi State. The tournament features teams representing each local government area within Kogi East, Kogi Central, and Kogi West.
