Nigeria International and FC Zurich of Switzerland attacking midfielder, Ifeanyi Mathew is elated that the Swiss super league ended on a good note for him and his teammates.
Ifeanyi Mathew who joined FC Zurich mid February, met the team swimming in the murky waters of relegation, but his arrival brought about a great deal of fortune for the club, as his presence impacted on their overall performance, helping to steer the team to safety at the end of the season.

It is believed that as an attacking midfielder, your primary role is to be relied upon to look for and receive the ball, control and pass it with confidence, and always aim to move up the pitch and create chances for your team. They help link the midfield and attack, often operating in the areas between the central midfielder and center forward, however, it wasn’t just the role Ifeanyi played, he also contributed 2 goals, and made the Swiss super league team of the season on three different occasions in the process.
Speaking exclusively to paimedia.com.ng, Ifeanyi believes that next season will be greater, considering the fact that the team had to rise up to the occasion and steady the ship from sinking in the early parts of the season.
“I must say I am happy we finished on a high, and we are hoping for a better season come next term”
“You know I met them at the relegation zone when I joined the team in February, and I am happy i played a part collectively with my teammates to ensure we avoid the drop zone”

Ifeanyi played full 90 mins for his club FC Zurich where they narrowly lost 3-2 to FC Lugano in the final round of matches played on Monday. His team finished 8th on the final standings in the Swiss super league.
