All is now set for gamers and officials of the Nigeria eSports Federation to depart the shores of the country for the highly anticipated 2023 Afro-Arab eSports championship billed to take place in Saudi Arabia, paimedia.com.ng reports.
Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday evening in Abuja, President of the Nigeria eSports Federation, Mr Clinton Agbor Ayuk said the Federation is looking just beyond participation, but hopes that the team will make a podium finish at the end of the championship.

“We as members of the eSports Federation of Nigeria are pleased to inform you that we are on our way to participate in this year’s edition of the Arab Afro eSports championship taking place in Saudi Arabia
“The players have been doing very well and we are set to go”
“We are not just going there to participate, but our going is beyond participation, our hope for our gamers is that they will be able to register Nigeria on the podium, and so we have been doing everything possible to make sure that this comes to pass”
Meanwhile, captain of team Nigeria Nkemakonam Semenitari, revealed that she has put in 2-3 months of intense training and barely sleeps 2-3 hours daily all in a bid to have a good outing and challenge for the ultimate price.
“Just like the president said, I have been training constantly for about 2-3 months, constantly granding 2-3 hours of sleep all for the purpose of this event and hoping to come out on top at the championship”

Also speaking at the press conference was South African based former BaseBall player, Mr Armstrong Ogwuche who is the Director of Business and Commercial of the Nigeria eSports Federation.
According to him, he said the team is traveling with high hopes and high expectations, believing that the gamers will be enthusiastic to fancy their chances, noting they have done the very best they can, believing that they expect some good results from team Nigeria at the championship.

“Our expectations are high, and we are very confident of the performance of our gamers, we have put in the work and we expect some results”
“We have done the most that we can and we hope that we will make the country proud.
“We are equally very proud of our athletes, there is so much they have done, I believe they will compete not just to win but fairly as well because this tournament is about cultural exchange and I believe that we are good to go and Nigeria will take the reign as winners in Africa but we are hoping for the best”

Team Nigeria will be participating in the eFootball event of the tournament both in the male and female category.
The 2023 Afro-Arab eSports championship which starts on Aug 17th will climax on the 21st at the Riyadh Boulevard Challenge Arena Saudi Arabia
